Titolo: The Last Valkyrie: Tre Anelli - Tre Re
Autrice: Jennifer Sage
Casa editrice: Dunwich Edizioni
Genere: Paranormal Romance / Fantasy Erotico
Pagine: 400
Prezzo: 3,99€ ebook 14,90 cartaceo

Buona lettura!***

La nostra tappa prevede l'intervista a Jennifer Sage, autrice gentilissima e disponibile. È stata un vero tesoro! Buona lettura

INTERVISTA ALL'AUTRICE

1. Who is Jennifer Sage? Introduce yourself to Italian readers!

Who is Jennifer Sage? Well, that’s a mystery still. Some say she exists entirely in the fantasy realms she writes. Some days, I’d have to agree with that. I’m also a mother, a lover, an avid reader, and a cook that makes divine creations with her food. Wine, did I mention I’m a consumer of delectable wines, as well? Italy, how I love your food and wine...and the people I met there were unparalleled in their generous hearts. I never wanted to come back to the states when I went there. Had I not had a little one at home waiting for me, I probably wouldn’t have.

Chi è Jennifer Sage? Presentati alle lettrici italiane!

Chi è Jennifer Sage? Be’, è ancora un mistero.

2. How did you start writing? You were supported in your choice or you had to fight to chase your objective?

I’ve been writing since I was old enough to read. I still have picture books that I wrote as early as first grade (6 years old) and won my first award in third grade from the Florida Young Authors Awards. Writing is to me, what painting is to an artist that uses paints and canvases. It’s how I communicate the stories in my soul, and it’s part of my genetic makeup and my everyday (very busy) life. I’ve always done it, and always will. I had a lot of support with my writing growing up from my family, and my favorite gifts at Christmas and my birthdays were always the new journals, rare parchments, and pens that they all gave me. Cheap toys from the store? No, I just wanted a new journal. And I filled them up with stories and poetry as fast as I got them replaced. :)

Giocattoli a buon mercato?

 3. What is the inspiration behind this novel? Are you a fan of Nordic mythology?

I am a fan of all mythology, but when I got the idea for The Last Valkyrie I was extremely excited as there was nothing in the adult romance market that had a Valkyrie as the main character, and the true mythology of Ragnarok (The Twilight of the Gods - aka, the end of the world as we know it) as the primary theme. It truly was the first of its kind in the adult romance market. I really enjoyed the theme for this one, as I always write about the balance between humanity and the loss/ lack of it, but with Norse mythology there’s no such thing as evil. I’ve enjoyed fleshing out the “bad characters” immensely with that in mind. “There’s no such thing as good and evil in the realms...only varying degrees of humanity, or lack thereof.” ~Rune, TLV

Come è nato il romanzo "The Last Valkyrie"?

~Rune

4. How much have you studied Norse mythology before writing your novel?

I always do an immense amount of research on any novel I write, and The Last Valkyrie was no exception. I am still doing research for books 2 & 3, as I want to remain as true as I can to the real history as told in the Poetic Edda’s. At the beginning of each chapter there are either quotes from “The True Scrolls of Ragnarok” which are all me re-telling the original stories to fit this series, or there are quotes from the Edda’s (all of the re-tellings of Norse mythology) with their respective author cited. Those from the Edda’s are the “real” quotes of Ragnarok and the Norse Gods, which I’ve endeavored to wrap into the world I’ve written as I can. There is no story of a Valkyrie genocide, or of the scrolls that told of a being that would have the power to stop Ragnarok. In true Norse mythology, most of the major Gods die in Ragnarok, and it seems they accept that fate. They’re not so accepting of it in The Last Valkyrie.
Short answer? Yes, a lot of research. Always. :)

Risposta corta? Si, un sacco di ricerca. Sempre. : )

5. The characters of your series are strong and sexy alpha. Do they represent your ideal of man? Did you take inspiration from someone in particular?

Well, I would have to say that yes, my ideal man would be the ones that I write. I do believe I manifested my partner based on the characters I’ve written for the male leads over the last decade. My muse is very much a combination of Rune and Zane from The Last Valkyrie. He most definitely rocks the casbah.

Ti sei ispirata a qualche personaggio in particolare?

6. In this novel there is a romantic triangle. Who is your favorite character? Who’s the character that you love most?

That’s an easy one. Kara. ((I know you were expecting me to say Zane or Rune, but I love those two equally for different reasons))
Kara is very much me, but in the form of a kick-ass Valkyrie that has the task of saving the world from destruction and chaos. Chaos is coming, she can’t stop it all...but hopefully she’ll find the strength she needs to stop the Twilight of the Gods / Ragnarok from coming to pass. Everything rests on the Ship of the Dead not getting off its mooring. If that happens, no one in any world can stop Ragnarok. But, that’s all I can tell you about that. :)

7. Describe in three words this first novel in the series.

Lust. Love. Loss.

Lussuria. Amore. Perdita.

8. “The Last Valkyrie” is the first book of the series. Do you have any idea on how to develop the sequels?

Yes. I took a bit of a break for six months at the end of 2016. I had a big move to another part of the country and began another journey that was very much needed. I had to live a little bit of adventure, grow as a human being, and take care of my heart and soul so that I could give my readers the best stories possible. I called it “soul gardening” in a post at the end of 2016, and I think that everyone needs some time to reset sometimes. I absolutely needed that, and will produce even better work because of it.   I know the way the series ends, and most of the in-betweens. The in-betweens tend to change as I write though, and the characters develop, but “the end”...I know what happens with that. My characters truly do drive the in-betweens. In Dante, for example (books 3 and 4 of the Guardian Archives) there were things that happened while I wrote that connected dots I never knew would exist in the generations of the bloodlines. Zaqar wasn’t even supposed to be more than a scene, and he was much, much more as readers would know. So much that he’s getting his own book that begins a new series at some point. It’s an amazing feeling to write something and feel it literally come alive without you. Those moments are absolute kismet, and I love the “hel” out of them. (Hel is spelled correctly, Norse mythology.)

"The Last Valkyrie" è il primo libro di una serie. Hai già in mente come svilupperai i seguiti?

Questi momenti sono assolutamente destinati e “I love the hel out of them” (Hel è corretto, mitologia nordica)

9. What’s your favorite quote from the novel?

Oh, that’s tough for me to say. Below are a few that are reader choices, however. ((You can use whichever ones you want)) :)

The first breath of words in my ear are like worshippers in Sunday mass. There’s just enough religion to make me bow down and want to scream ‘amen’.
Sit, stand, kneel. Kneel? Oh yes...I’ll kneel.
No, hel, I don’t kneel! I’m a damn…
“Kara…” he whispers, as I mold into him. Putty. Play dough. Play with me dough putty.  Sons of Odin and all that is holy… please Gods, make me stop trembling…
~Kara - The Last Valkyrie, Book 1

She was my salvation even though I’m damned.
I couldn’t damn her with me. I wanted to. Even now if I had a moment left, I would take her screams and shake all of Midgard with the passion I contained.
I did that for her.
~Zane - The Last Valkyrie, Book 1

“Oh my dear, naive, Valkyrie. On the contrary actually. I’m too hot for you to handle without my masks. You’re so not ready for Rune in the raw. Not yet, anyway. And I have a few masks—for the record—just in case one falls off without warning.”
~Rune - The Last Valkyrie, Book 1

“Awesome. I’m given a voice I can’t use, death magick I don’t want, broken wings that can’t get off Midgard, and a sex gene that makes me starved if I’m not getting any. I rock the freaking casbah.”
~Kara - The Last Valkyrie, Book 2

Spring blooms around our very flesh as the tears hit the earth, so many things pouring out in an abundance of love right now, that the earth can’t help but respond to it. I feel the hope of spring in my heart and see it in the blades of green grass that rise in winters freeze around us. Magic thaws the ice of the world, and the ice in my soul.
~Kara - The Last Valkyrie, Book 1

“Your energy is more addictive than a Succubus, a Goddess, an anything I’ve ever encountered, Kara. Not kidding. This is torture. Stop poking the bear, because I’ve only got so much decent and moral in me before I break and take you. I’m not as selfless as some.”
~Rune

(Puoi usarle come preferisci) : )

Seduti, in piedi, in ginocchio. In ginocchio? Oh, sì, mi inginocchierei.
No, dannazione, io non mi inginocchio. Sono una dannata…
«Kara…» mormora, mentre mi riduco in creta.

Avrei voluto.
 ~Zane

«Oh, mia cara e ingenua Valchiria.

~Rune

10. Free space to say what you want to your Italian readers!

I would just like to say thank you in advance for beginning this journey with me of The Last Valkyrie. I will be getting the remaining books out very quickly now that I’m fully immersed in it again. Please leave reviews, they are so helpful for others that are looking for similar books. I hope you’ve had a chance to read the novels of The Guardian Archives, as well. My awesome publisher in Italy, Dunwich Edizioni, is getting ready to release Dante-Part 2. Those two books were inspired by my visit to your wonderful country, and you can fact check my walks through ancient Roma and the present day city. All locations in present day exist, even the bar that I used in the novel.

Italy is my favorite country in the world, and I can’t wait to come back over for a book signing and to greet my readers there. Wine, great conversation, and dinner, perhaps? I hope that 2017/2018 will bring me back overseas to you all and we can work something like that out. Wine + readers + Italy + divine food = perfection in my book. Sign me up!

I love to hear from my readers, so please feel free to reach out to me on my website at www.jennifersage.com - on the contact form, you can send me an email right from there. My Italian is not so great, but I love to practice. Google Translate allows me to converse if I’m unable to decipher it all, don’t worry. I would love to hear from you.

Oh, there is also a brand new series coming after The Last Valkyrie is done that I’m very excited about, and there is a series that is re-entering the market very soon, at least in its English version. “Immortal Dreams” has been re-written and over 30,000 words have been added to the original novel that has been completely re-done. I wasn’t sure that this was ever going to re-enter the market, but in early January 2017, I dug into my first ever novel that was written over ten years ago, and didn’t stop until it was the story it was always mean to be. That work is a bit of a love triangle, as well, and is urban fantasy that delves into the realms of the Sidhe, Elves, the Gods, and other beings from those realms. Please be careful: NEVER call the Sidhe, faeries! You’ll understand why when you read it. I’m so excited to share that one, as well as The Last Valkyrie- Books 2 and 3.

Thank you so much for this opportunity, and happy reading!
Much Love,
Jennifer Sage xx

Domanda a scelta!

Jennifer Sage
